Scottish singer Nick Currie, more popularly known as Momus, currently lives in Japan. February 2011, however, will see Momus on what he calls The European Peripheral Tour, reaching from Osaka to Berlin, Athens, Milan, Zurich, Edinburgh, Helsinki, Malmo,Stockholm and Gothenburg

Nick Currie has been releasing albums under the name Momus for more than twenty years. He started out as a member of the band The Happy Family, which also featured members of the post-punk band Josef K. Momus’ first album, Circus Maximum, was released in 1986. He has since released more than twenty full-length albums, three books and has spent the last two decades living in London, Paris, Tokyo, New York, Berlin and now Osaka. He has reached notable success in the various countries he has lived in, especially in Japan, where he wrote and produced music for singer Kahimi Karie, including the hit single "Good Morning World." His previous album, Hypnoprism (released in 2010), was born out of a YouTube experiment, and he is now about to release a four-track vinyl EP titled The Thunderclown on the Swedish record label Tona Serenad.

HOUSE - a film by Nobuhiko Obayashi, Japan 1977, 87 min

How to describe Nobuhiko Obayashi’s 1977 movie House? As a psychedelic ghost tale? A stream-of-consciousness bedtime story? An episode of Scooby Doo as directed by Dario Argento? Any of the above will do for this hallucinatory head trip about a schoolgirl who travels with six classmates to her ailing aunt’s creaky country home, only to come face to face with evil spirits, bloodthirsty pianos, and a demonic housecat. Too absurd to be genuinely terrifying, yet too nightmarish to be merely comic, House seems like it was beamed to Earth from another planet. Or perhaps the mind of a child: the director fashioned the script after the eccentric musings of his eleven-year-old daughter, then employed all the tricks in his analog arsenal (mattes, animation, and collage) to make them a visually astonishing, raucous reality. Never before released in the United States, and a bona fide cult classic in the making, House is one of the most exciting genre discoveries
in years.
